Windham County resident Eduardo Acevedo, age 33, of Moosup, was captured on Friday, June 10, with the help of the Lincoln, Rhode Island Police on a warrant from the Plainfield Police Department.
Through an investigation, it was determined that Acevedo had inappropriate sexual contact with a 13-year-old female, said Chief Mario Arriaga, of the Plainfield Police.
During the investigation, it was determined that Acevedo had fled the state in an attempt to elude law enforcement efforts to contact him, the department said.
His arrest was a result of an investigation conducted by the department's special investigations unit, Arriaga said.
Acevedo was charged with:
- Six counts of sexual assault
- Six counts of commercial sexual abuse of a minor
- Six counts of risk of injury to a minor
He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 13.
